Other Queen City attractions include Spirit Square, a former church with galleries and a performing arts center.

Area Facts: In 1799 a 17-pound gold nugget was discovered in Charlotte bringing gold prospectors to the area. Shortly after this discovery, the California gold rush drove the miners over to the west coast. The local area code for Charlotte is 704.
